Tavistock Barn. Large garden
A modern barn conversion with a large lawned garden was a blank canvas with little interest and a lot of mowing. The client wanted a formal garden with good access from the gate and less grass. A strong geometric pattern was created using parallel strips of planting through the gravel this is then dissected diagonally by a wide slate path connecting the entrance to the house. Trees planted either side of the gravel area create a vista, leading the eye through the space to a sculpture at the top of the garden forming a focal point and connecting the spaces together.
